November 2011

this is bad. i want to document stuff but it's already halfway into december, so i can barely remember november.... uh.... i voted :b my parents returned from korea, and we managed to get all the luggage and 4 ppl in my sedan. we were sick for a week. we bought a honda crv and bid farewell to r's sentra. S went to the eye doctor and talks about it a lot, so perhaps he enjoyed it? my inlaws came by one saturday for a visit. thanksgiving with my parents, and a bit of shopping. most of the pregnant friends had their babies this month. sebastian's 3rd bday party, and tried out the new, long debated intercounty connector.

My aunt in Korea died. :\
An east coast Earthquake that originated in my state!

July 2011

We went to the july 4th parade in Leesburg and toured Dodona Manor, and saw fireworks in Ashburn Village. We made ample use of swimming passes in the record breaking heat. R's dad visited, and we all went to the Udvar-Hazy air and space museum together. Also saw my parents, and R's mom, stepdad, and great aunt. Sophie had a first birthday party, so it was nice to see some friends there.

edit - and i went to the dentist!

June 2011

We took a little trip to Pennsylvania, though we slept in New Jersey. We went to Sesame Place with G&K and their son K. S was not into the splashing water in the water park. We stayed near Princeton, so we walked around the campus - so beautiful! That place would definitely inspire me to learn. The jughandle left turns were not fun though. We had never seen that type of traffic pattern, and the hotel was on the left. We were a tad agitated until we figured it out. :b I like left turn lanes, what can i say.
Went to strasburg PA to see Thomas the tank engine. A good way to fuel the thomas obsession. Very cool town with lots of train history! So I went overboard finding Thomas trains on ebay.
Church had this teaser of "church like you've never experienced before" so instead of the typical service, we packed food for Stop Hunger Now and Orphan Network. 290,000 bags will go to children in Nicaragua. The bags had rice, dried veggies and soy, and vitamins. 781 kids will eat for a year! so cool, i was so glad to be a part of it.

may 2011

went to see the inlaws the last weekend of april which became may. s and cousin-I got to play. cute!
i spent a lot of time trying to give away furniture. it's harder than it sounds, with the flakes and no-shows... what a joy to have it all gone! woo! our new furniture was delivered. it opens up the room so much!
for mothers day we tried a kabob place near church. doesn't compare to charcoal kabob. if we have a vow renewal, charcoal kabob will cater. :P
we took a trip down to charlottesville, and richmond and a stop in fredericksburg. so we got to see monticello, ash lawn-highland, and the va state capitol. and rising sun tavern. a big chunk of virginia history right there. linens back then were washed maybe every 3 months. and you know how bathing wasn't a priority...ughh.. s did great sleeping in the pull out sofas at the hotels. he also made lots of progress with the potty.
inlaws came the last weekend. our HOA has a summer kick off party with fireworks, so we enjoyed grilling and etc. s was scared and ran inside, but we watched the fireworks from the window in his room.
it's as if S has a photographic memory, because he narrates thomas stories. he also went up the 22 foot slide at the bounce house. no fear of heights. :)
hmm...hines ward won dancing with the stars. john rich won celebrity apprentice. bin laden is gone. oprah's last show aired.

april 2011

we visited morven park in leesburg.
the pastor at our church resigned, which shocked... everybody.
we had a stomach bug pass through on our 7th anniversary.
http://www.roomstore.com/shared/pages/product/product.aspx?ItemId=1390356&ChildItemId=1390356 we thought r's dad would soon be taking his stuff that we've been storing at our house since 2005. but with gas prices and etc. he decided not to. we pulled the trigger because of a 20% discount/offer. graduating to grown up/coordinated/ non-ikea furniture after 7 years of marriage! woot!
r's birthday (35) was the 23rd, so we went to a few places with birthday coupons.
the last weekend in april (which became may) we visited my inlaws. s did well and had fun with cousin I and we gave r's grandma her birthday presents. the 'rents let us have an belated anniversary date while watching s. i liked my crabcakes but if i ever go back, i'm going to order r's steak topped with crab. undeniably good.

3 2011

I found more vitaminwater coupons. so around 20 more free bottles. fun stuff.
sean had this hacking dry cough and blotchy skin after eating peanut butter. so we went to the doctor. they didn't address the peanut issue. reactive airway disease. sean got the nebulizer (which he hated at first, but took like a champ) and antibiotics for an ear infection. that cough was sooo scary.
we ended up catching what sean had.
we visited oatlands.
potty training ... will have to work on consistency.
my awesome neighbors stayed with sean and let rob and i go on a date! awesome!! i don't get out much, so yes, it was very awesome.
my parents closed down their store. they came down to visit and brought loads and loads of inventory. useful stuff, but too much of it. i have a hard time keeping things in order, and now there's more stuff.
i am trying to give 40 things away for 40 days. i was inspired by a blog. it's going well.

february 2011

there was snow, there was rain, there was sleet, there was 70 degree weather. ha!
i ran a vitamin water scheme - saw these tearpads of 75 cent coupons. yoinked them and took them to the stores that double coupons. making them free... and some times profiting. but the coupons are all gone, and i'm feeling sad. :b i have around 15 vitaminwaters to drown my sorrow in.
starting potty training stuff. he did pee in the potty one time, which shocked me. need to be upbeat about this!
watched some of TCM's 31 days of oscar. ended up making a big movie list - well, 2 lists. one of films i've seen, and one of films i'd like to catch eventually.
the king's speech won best picture. now i need to see that!
and checked my credit reports. looks okay. i got a eticket for a bus ride that i didn't buy, and that got me freaked out.
we got new phones. fun stuff.
i'll also add that we used most of the olive garden gift cards from Christmas. I got the most expensive meal there. just because. but if you have a steak, you should try and have it at a steakhouse. olive garden is not your place. ;)

some quotes i have bookmarked and don't know where to put them, so here they are:
"The world is full of women blindsided by the unceasing demands of motherhood, still flabbergasted by how a job can be terrific and torturous." --Anna Quindlen

"And you should be thanking me every morning when you wake up - along with Jesus, for giving you another day!" - Don Draper/Mad Men

"When me gets back to me I promise i will get back to you." -one of my fb friends

At 24 months: your child is 27.1875 pounds, and that is at the 56th percentile for weight.

your child is 35.5 inches, and that is at the 87th percentile for height.

your child has a head circumference of 18.5 inches, and that is at the 34th percentile for head circumference.

january - gonna c&p for the time being. dweeb.

it cracks me up that sev of my friends are considering ending their lj. i was thinking the same thing. my best friend as a kid was a stationery geek, and she would buy new journals all the time without ever finishing the ones she had. she liked starting anew. i didn't understand then, but i sort of understand now. it's empty now, but i started a blogspot - since i'm a google maniac. maybe it's a good time to move..or is it? i hate that i have abandoned blogs all over the place.. okay, am i sounding wishy-washy? ugh, i'm a dweeb. all my future bloodline will get to read about their dweeby great great great great grand joo :P. whose thoughts are all over the place. and they will wonder what's up with my two spaces after a period. i learned to type on a typewriter. it is true. it's habit.
so my january: we continue with being sick. sickness is not productive. ugh. yeah, i have this dislike of winter. well, by 2/7, winter is half over, so i have that. (then i rub lemon juice in the wound by looking up weather in hawaii.) not as stuffy now...i am able to breathe through my nose at night, and that is quite lovely.
we did see my inlaws the 2nd january weekend. sean had fun with opening more gifts. extended christmas, woohoo!
our tree snapped during the snowstorm and landed on our cars! yikes. you gotta believe in guardian angels, tho. the tree fell away from the house. it didn't hit any other cars. we were able to get the cars out, and all they have are scratches. rob did a lot of lopping. then our neighbor came by with a saw. and then an electric cutting thing - it looked small like an electric knife - think thanksgiving turkey ;) a beautiful thing - never underestimate electricity. :b the snapped part broke off and rob got out of the way in time. everyone is safe. thank you God! so it turns out that bradford pear trees have a reputation for breaking in storms. tree service ppl finally came - pronounced the tree dead, and took it away. wow, the yard looks different. we no longer have the biggest tree in the neighborhood.
